Advanced materials for additive manufacturing laboratory (AM4AM)
신소재 적층제조 연구실
Welcome to the Advanced Materials for Additive Manufacturing (AM4AM) laboratory. Additive manufacturing (3D printing for manufacturing) is an emerging technology that offers a variety of opportunities to the manufacturing industries. In particular, laser-based metal additive manufacturing technologies are developing rapidly to meet industrial needs. The goal of AM4AM laboratory is the development of advanced materials and processes for the laser-based metal additive manufacturing technologies. On this purpose, we are also developing sophisticated simulation techniques for accurately estimating temperature and stress evolutions during the additive manufacturing process with advanced microstructural characterizations using transmitting electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction. The key research activities include:
- Design and development of new Fe-based functional materials for the laser-based metal additive manufacturing process.
- Development of in-lab finite element simulation codes for predicting temperature and stress evolutions during the laser-based additive manufacturing process.
- Additive manufacturing process development and optimization.
- Advanced microstructural characterization.
